This tapestry was woven directly on the loom without a cartoon, as kilims often are. The pattern was based on a single element, the triangle, repeated and varied as desired. Only leftover yarn from another tapestry, ‘Red Gorge Two Views’, was used as the weft. The text, a remembered statement by Archie Brennan describing the nature of tapestry weaving, was an afterthought, added towards the end of the weaving process.
